SPEAKER_02If you're looking to get some goals completed by the end of this year, whether it's big goals, small goals, or any goals in between, this episode is for you. This audio was taken from a previous masterclass. We normally do goal masterclasses at the end of the year to get us ready for the next year. And as this episode is launching, it's going to be the middle of 2026. I know some people listen to the episodes a little bit later, but the big picture is if you think about your goals multiple times a year, not just once a year. Realistically, not just twice a year. You should be thinking about them more often, and we'll kind of touch base on this on a couple of resources that I'll link to. The more we think about our goals, it's top of mind. And there's a better chance of it becoming a reality. Now we've all thought about goals and dreams and wishes, but we are going to dive in and give you some quick examples that you can use right away. I also want to put a link to the book, Why My Goals Not Working, where I take the color personalities and some of your values and make sure they are aligned with our goals. That way, I don't know about you, but it's happened multiple times before I put this into action where I achieve a goal and I was able to spend the money, and I had an empty feeling because it wasn't really making me happy. It's something that was sold to me, not what was internally motivating and internally making me happy. And I'll also put a link to another free resource, which is the Happy Network Marketer ebook. Yes, you can buy the audio and the paperback book, but the ebook is absolutely free to anybody listening to this episode. And you can also share the link. This will give you some tips, a little bit on goals, but mostly on step-by-step how to build a business, some quick icebreakers, some things you can use right away. Absolutely free. Okay, let's get into this week's episode.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so if we're looking at our goals that we didn't do a really good job this year, here's the good news. We get to try again next year, do it all over again. But unfortunately, that means that we kind of burned a year where we could have had focused effort. So we're thinking about 2026 goals. And if we're like most people, uh it's not going well because we say, Well, I'll put it off, I'll put it off, I'll put it off. I don't have mine yet. So I posted this in the group in the network marketing questions group, this little graphic is why my 2025 goals failed. And a lot of people say, Well, it's really funny about your mother-in-law. But then other people said, Well, yeah, yeah, but uh it might be a little bit true. Maybe not the mother-in-law, but somebody else that's close that kind of depressed it. So what happens is we make excuses. Unfortunately, it's hard for us as humans to accept it as our fault. So we just look outside of ourselves for a reason why it happened or we got distracted. It's human, but let's try to do a better job this year because you don't get all that many chances in life. Here's the next uh question. I have a new benefit. And the benefit is I have more energy. What can I say? And the person says, I cannot say last time we talked, I kept dozing off in the day, but now we're remaining alert the whole day. Would you like to know how I did it? Would you like to know how I did it? Very nice ending here. Why can't I say that? Because this prospect already knows what my product solution is. In other words, they know what I sell. And it'll sound so much like a sales pitch when I tell them about my personal experience again. They say, okay. Uh, that sounds like a lot of my distributors say I can't go back and talk to my relatives because they already know what I do. They told me no the first time, even though I said the bad words and turned them off, but I really can't go back. So, in the QA, how would you answer this question for this person? And they say, They already know what you do, they know you're a salesman for it, and when you come back, what are you gonna say? What are you gonna do? And even if our downline never bring this up, is still in the back of their mind, like a hidden objection. They say, I've been posting on Facebook, everybody on Facebook knows what I'm doing. So even though I have this really good benefit, I told them about if I keep telling them about them, they're probably gonna unfriend me on Facebook. Probably not the worst thing that could happen. But that's what's gonna happen. So, how would you answer that question? Well, what could you tell people? So, in the QA, if you have some suggestions, put them in. But let me take a look quickly here at a couple suggestions while you're uh typing those in. Uh anyway, uh Jerry Scribner has one here really quick. Uh Keith, go ahead. What does Jerry say?
SPEAKER_02Uh let me share with you what I just found out. So the recency bias is always very important uh for people. Um, you mentioned that you know his posts about his business on Facebook, so yeah, more of a lifestyle and you know things like that. So it's not a constant uh you know spamming. So we see plenty of those on social media. Uh I know we talked about well, here's another one. Uh we have uh a submission. I know we talked about my product before, and you aren't really interested, but I've got some new results if you know anybody that might want to, and of course, insert there as well. Okay, so here's here's another one. I tell a story about my new experience with new persons. So yeah, always share stories. It's a good way to get people involved versus fact uh you know, fact vomiting, or be very specific in terms of money. I made $500 helping people have more energy or save save money, etc. Uh, be more specific. Um, but yeah, yeah, keep these coming in. Uh good brainstorming here.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, these are good ideas. So uh, like Eddie said here, uh, maybe I can't talk about myself, but I could say somebody else had this result. And so it's not me, it's somebody else. It's another chance, give another impression. And a lot of these suggestions here say, you know what, we could just bring up a different benefit or from a different angle. Instead of saying I have more energy, just saying, you know, I'm able to wake up better now, or I'm able to keep up with the grandkids or my kids now. So these are some just thinking about it, you say, okay, instead of having the subjection, just say, all right, this is a learning point. What can I do with the subjection? What'll what will it teach me that I could pass on to my team? Because a lot of team members probably don't even know this, but it is holding them back. All right, so let's uh quickly take a look at an ad here. And in the QA, you can tell us what you think about this ad. If you're driving, I'll read it very quickly. It says there's no joining fees, no monthly subs, and it's all automated. So no training and no recruiting, if that's not your thing. If you'd like to know more, dot dot dot, you know, con that contact me, etc. So that's the ad. And you say, well, it's probably good and bad in here. So what's your opinion? What was good, what was bad, what could be improved? And if we put on our thinking cab saying, all right, what does this ad teach me? Does it teach me something good that I can use or something bad that I should probably avoid in the future? Because when we type in our own ad, we have this bias, but when we see it from somebody else, we can be critical. So, uh, Keith, what do we have here for some suggestions here on this ad?
SPEAKER_02Oh, we definitely have a lot of people are on the same page. We've seen a lot of these before. Uh different ways of saying it. Why do we why do they need people? So why do they need me? Uh scam too good to be true. Definitely no rapport, so we kind of forget about the basics on this one. Uh, good start, but if it's all automated, where do we come in? So, another way of looking at it. Uh, it's good the removal of risk, bad because it sounds too good to be true, and we all know if it's too good to be true, etc. Sounds like we do nothing to make money, so yeah. Uh alarms are being set off, and it's definitely being set off on real prospects as well. So keep these coming in.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and that's a good point here. Uh, if it sounds too good to be true, they won't do it, even if it is true. So we do have to try to make it sound credible and sometimes not too good. Or if it sounds too good, we have to give them a reason why it sounds too good. So let's move on with uh today's lesson, which is why are my goals not working? And we ask everybody to read the book, underline it, uh, review it. And this is a big problem with people. Almost everybody sets goals, almost everybody does, but they're usually forgotten, they weren't serious, and like I say, some people did it while they're drunk on New Year's Eve, they wait till the last minute, and then they just give up till next year. They think goals has to start at New Year's and you can't start five days later, or in our case, five days earlier. So the whole purpose of the goal book there was to say, okay, we have a personality. If we're gonna pick a goal, let's make sure it's in sync with our personality. That'll give us a better chance. Because if our activity is not comfortable, we tend to give it up. No matter how good the return of our we get from our activity, we're gonna give it up because it's uncomfortable. So once we know our personal color personality, or with our team member if they're creating it, we can say, is this goal in in sync with this? Or is this goal going to be outside their comfort zone? So, an example, I'm a green personality, and let's say I set a goal that I'm gonna make cold calls on the phone to strangers. Uh, I'd probably find that pretty uncomfortable to do this long term, even if the results are good, I'd probably get tired of it like really, really fast. So, in the QA, since we had you read your book, uh, has anybody here set your new year goals yet for 2026? And if you have, would you care to share them? So you've had a week to read the book, and some of you probably said, All right, I know exactly what my goal is going to be. Um, maybe your goal is to be a super Star Trek Commander, Eagle, Extra Feathers, you know, to get this award on stage, or maybe your goal is just to earn enough money so you can have monies off for the rest of your life, or maybe your goal is to get healthy and lose one pound this year, whatever it may be. I don't know. But if you have a goal, uh put it in uh the QA. And if you have any comments about your personality or why you chose it, hey, put that in there also. So, Keith, what do we have here for just a couple quick suggestions? Because maybe we'll inspire somebody else to say, you know what, I never thought of it that way. Maybe I could try that. So go ahead.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, we have someone that says 10,000 customers. Now I do know this person, and I know they have a group, so their group goal is 10,000, which you know obviously brings up a good point as far as you know leverage and why this uh industry is awesome. You can't get 10,000 customers. Well, you can, but it's pretty hard. So it's always good to have a good group. I'm going to get a new investment license in 2026. I'll be able to offer probably uh new service to existing clients, track new ones, etc. I'm also gonna rank up this year, so yeah, more pay. And I do like the rank up versus I'm gonna rank up five levels, uh, as as some people uh say, which is fine if you can, but most people one step at a time. Line up my goals with my color. I'm blue-ish. I like the blue ish, it's it's something a blue would say. Nobody says green-ish, uh, so that that's pretty cool. Thanks for sending it in. I appreciate that. Uh my goal talk to one new person every single day. So absolutely, even if you're half successful, it's still 170 people-ish. All right. Uh, weekly group presentations. So, yeah, uh consistency, whether whatever your consistency is weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, whatever, weekly, that's a good one. So, yes, keep these coming in.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so we want to use the book that we just read here. Not that we're gonna review it, you know, chapter by chapter here in the masterclass, because we all are able to read, but we're gonna do is say using that as a base, what can we do more here in the master class to make what we learned even better or more effective? So, here's the first thing it's called outcomes plus values. So, what does that mean? Our outcomes is what we want to do, which is uh talk to a person a day or 10,000 customers or lose this weight. That's the outcome. But the values is I want to do it within my personal values or my personal color personality. As you know, there's like 14 basic values. We all have some. Uh we have to kind of pick and choose because if it's outside of our values, it's going to be so easy to give up that goal. It'll be like uh you won't even have to worry about it, it'll happen just automatically. So the way of looking at outcome and values is let's define the difference. Uh here it is the revenue goals are logical. 10,000 customers, talk to one person a day, etc. Lose one pound. They're very, very logical. But the values are emotional. Uh things are like I want to do it, uh I like to kind of do it where I just chit-chat over coffee because I like to talk. Or I like to do this because I will feel like I'm helping people. Because you know, yellow personality. Or I will do this because uh I enjoy feeling part of the group, and this is one of my goals of network marketing. So you gotta think about the emotional impact because as you know, logic is good, but emotionals, emotions override all the logic. So when people do goals, sometimes they're just way too logical and they forget about the their personal values, which are emotional, that's gonna override everything. So of the revenue goals and the values goals, which one is more important to you, or which one have you given more thought to for this year's goals? So, in the QA, what's your choice? The logical revenue goals or the emotional values? And there's no right answer. It's just that some of you say, Well, I got my emotional part done, I just have to figure out the revenue goal that will still be comfortable for me. And the other people might be saying, you know, just the opposite. I I know what I want to do, but I got to find a way of doing it within my comfort zone, within my values. So, uh Keith, what do we have here for just a couple quick suggestions of what how people feel about either emotion or revenue?
SPEAKER_02Um, all over the place. Uh revenue, emotional, emotional value, uh emotional habits will accomplish the goals. That's a good way of um combining them. Uh logical. So, yeah, kind of split down the middle.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so we just have to take a look at one size doesn't fit all. We're going to pick the one that seems the area that we have to focus on the most. So let's just imagine for a moment that you chose that uh I got my revenue goals, but I've done that for the last few years, and I just really haven't got involved. So I might want to try the the value part. So let's move on. That would be the why of our goals. And you say, well, all right, so how do I get this emotion thing going? Well, it just ask why we're doing it. So what we need to do is just say, Well, why am I doing this goal? But a better way is to use specific questions that help us identify the values. Because a lot of times, if we ask ourselves a question, we're gonna pick an answer that makes us look good. So here's how to ask a question to kind of uncover how we really feel about things. So are you ready? All you need to do is remember these five words. How do I feel about if you notice the feel word? And if you're gonna pick one lesson from all the stuff that we've learned about emotions and mind reading and empathy and rapport, feel. If you can just put just have that one word feel, it puts you right into the emotional thick of things where all the action really happens. So you'd ask yourself, well, how do I feel about I I just want to earn more money next year? All right, or how do I feel about my goal is I just want to provide a better life for my family, which means more family time when I come home. Or uh which means being really hard-nosed about our activity, so I could send my daughters to private school next year. Or how do I feel about quitting my unfulfilling job? You say, well, here's how I'd feel. Let me shoot off fireworks, high five, uh hugs and crying with all the coworkers. So, how do I feel about will expose our emotions behind this? So uh let's take a look at a few more how do I feel about because this is where we should focus our our activity on this year, because uh we probably didn't focus on it in previous years, and our goals ended up being weak and forgotten. So uh it could be more to charity or more time to help others. Uh they they say wealth isn't money, wealth is really freedom. Wealth is really the ability to have your own time. Or maybe I just want to feel good about my work. Uh I go to work every day, feel unfulfilled, but now that I can do this along with a part-time income, I'm getting a little bit closer to my income goals, it feels better going to work. Or for all the Reds, especially, see if I can achieve this big challenge. Uh, see if I can get so many customers or so many appointments or uh win this award. That could be it. Let's take a look at some more questions we can ask ourselves. How do I feel about? So, how do I feel about saving for a big purchase? In other words, I really want to work hard this year because I'm going to use all the money and save it up for a boat or whatever it may be. Or I want to get the distributor of the year award. Or I I have a family or not a family reunion, but a class reunion coming up. And yeah, maybe I was voted least likely to succeed in my class, but I like to show up there with a nice car and a big bonus check, so I just feel good about myself. And for some people, I uh I say I just want to avoid poverty and and the feeling of being poor where I couldn't afford things, so I didn't have any options. So if any of these trigger any feelings, you said investigate those. Say, all right, let me take a look at and see if that's something that I could um do for me. Here's just a couple more uh to win or pay for a dream trip. Now uh I'll tell you about a dream trip when I first got started. It was a trip to Alcapulco, Mexico, back when it was a nice place. And uh it was a big dream and I could win it, and I was so excited about it. But as many of you know, I didn't have any skills, so all I could do was make graphs of what I would have to do if I could do it to get there. And of course, I didn't qualify, but it was a goal uh have three-day weekends or be the head of a big team. People say, I've never been respected and never had people look up to me, or maybe had never had people look for me for guidance. And this is just uh something I always wanted to do. And here's your chance to earn it. So these are some examples of why reasons. And if you say, Why do I feel or how do I feel or about this, uh, it'll expose inside of us we either feel good about it or maybe eh, blah about it. So in the QA, I've given a few why reasons. Here in the QA, what are some of your why reasons? Something that will say it's an emotional thing that will uh carry me over those little bumps in the road. It's an emotional thing that'll make me remember this. It's an emotional thing that is going to be more powerful than the logic to keep me going. So, what are some of your why reasons? So we can have the revenue plus uh something within our values that we feel good about doing. So, Keith, uh, have any suggestions here of reasons why people might want to do what they're doing?
SPEAKER_02Oh, we definitely have a good friend of ours that wants to visit you in Thailand or and other friends as well. So uh that's a good why. You know, the memories are obviously an emotional reason, uh, you know, with logical payments. Regain what I lost financially to provide better for my family. So, yeah, absolutely. People do more for their families than they will do for themselves. Kids, dogs, pets, all those things. Uh we tend to put priority. Since I recently married to my best friend, the distractions of planning the wedding are over. Now I need to provide a great life for my family. All right, excellent. Um stop having sleep the night, sleepless nights due to not having enough money. So there you go. Peace of mind. Excellent. So, yeah, keep these coming in.
SPEAKER_01So, what we want to do is look at our why reasons and kind of marry it to our revenue reasons. And if they kind of match, it's still just be a lot easier to reach your goals. Uh, I like this one here in the in the uh QA says avoid poverty and the feeding of being poor, or create assets to carry me to the end of the life, or create legacy income to leave to my family. So once we have a strong why, it's not enough to achieve it, but at least we're motivated to keep focus on it. So we got our why reasons. Here's the next question: activities for this goal. Now the activities have to be in our comfort zone and within our our values. I told you about the trip to Alcapulco I didn't qualify because the activity would mean at that time I'd have to talk to a whole bunch of new people, because nobody I talked to already had ever joined, and it was outside my comfort zone, it was outside my skill zone, uh it was a disaster. But what we want to do is say, all right, I'm going to need some activities to achieve this goal. So let's pick some activities that I'm comfortable with versus ones that I'm uncomfortable with. Because there's more than one path to the top of the mountain. There's several different things that we could do to achieve what our goal is. So uh in the QA, let's ask yourselves, what activity do you plan to do to reach your 2026 goals? So imagine you say, well, it's not to have uh sleepless nights due to not having enough money. So you say the first thing on the goals is uh I'm gonna have to talk to more people every day because uh I'm gonna need a lot bigger bonus check. And I can do that by talking to more people a day. And within my comfort zone, I guess the best way for me to do it is over coffee because I'm comfortable with doing it over coffee, or I wouldn't be comfortable going to a networking event with all these strangers. He said, All right, that's an example of putting it together. You say, All right, so what activities do you plan to do to reach your 2026 goal? Most people never do this step because if they don't plan the activities, well, it's just a dream, it's a hope, it's a wish. It's uh would be nice to not a thing that's going to happen. We have to have hardcore activities and having the skills to do that activity so it's going to be successful is really important. And that's what's left out of a lot of goal books. So now that you know your color, you say, okay, what is it that I can do within my color personality or within my uh values that will be an effective activity to help me reach that goal. So uh what do we have uh for some suggestions here, Keith?
SPEAKER_02All right, we have somebody that's been binge scrolling TikTok, so maybe they should learn it uh intentionally. They said uh they want to learn to use it intentionally. So I guess one way of looking at it is um create more than you consume. That's always a a good rule or balance. Uh short study sessions each morning because long study sess sessions are overrated. Absolutely, yeah. Much um it's easier to do. It's uh nobody really has time anymore, uh, because we're all consumed with other things. So yeah, you might as well have short goals uh boot well, short goals for the the habits. Uh add one person a day to my list, book one appointment every single day. All right, excellent. Someone wants to do the coffee book techniques, meet people over food or coffee. Yeah, absolutely. So much easier than going to a stuffy hotel meeting. Talk to one person every day. Usually ended up with talk to two to four people. So, yeah, the goal is one as you're intentionally putting yourself out there. Absolutely. Um, you realize how easy it is when you're asking the right questions to get two to four. Go to more interest and activity groups to meet new people. Absolutely, yeah. Use uh Facebook groups, meetup, things like that, where people have common interests, people are definitely more social and of course open to conversation. Keep these coming in.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and if you're talking about uh doom scrolling or social media scrolling, here's another way to look at it. So it's maybe more controllable, and that is why do we scroll? And we scroll because we are bored, nothing else better to do. So that's one of the reasons to have a really great goal because we have our goal, some activity in place. We don't want to scroll. Scrolling releases a whole lot of dopamine inside the brain. And you say, Well, what's next? What's the next one? So that's why we get addicted to scrolling because we like all these dopamine hits, you know, scene after scene after scene. And of course, our mind gets a little bit numb to it over time, so it loses effectiveness. But still, when we're bored, we go to the scrolling. If we have a strong goal, we don't have time for the scrolling. Oh, we're on that. So something to consider. Okay, uh let's move on. Here's another thing that we can do accountability. Now, yes, it's a motivational crutch, but we do more not to disappoint other people than we will for ourselves many times. We don't want to let the other person down. So the question is, do you plan to add accountability to your goals? You say, how am I gonna do it? Well, you're gonna post them or just an announce and tell others about them, or find yourself an accountability partner, a check-in partner. Where you can say, All right, my goal was this. I figured out this activity, and every day or once a week we can check in with each other and say, hey, how's this activity thing going? So you get to that goal. Accountability partners rock. So if you can find one, great. If you can't, uh look around in groups, cross line uh people not even in your business, but try to find somebody to be accountable for because it's yes, a motivational crutch, but it's one more step to make it easier for where we go. Uh moving on. Procrastination is natural in our brain. Our brain is set up to procrastinate, and this basic program never goes away. So, how this works is our brain says, all right, if I don't do anything, I can conserve energy in case I'm chased by a super-toothed tiger later on. And procrastination means if I don't make a decision, I'll never make a bad decision. Because I remember I made a bad decision once. We have to fight procrastination. So if you have that feeling, don't feel bad, don't try to get rid of it. It's just our basic programming as humans. This program never goes away. But to overcome it, so we actually do something, here's what we can do simply make the first step or effort really tiny or really easy or within our comfort zone. In other words, if we're gonna make phone calls, don't start off by saying make phone calls, we start off by saying I'll sit at the desk where the phone is, or I will organize my list, or I will print out my script. We've got to start with the tiniest little step, and that makes it easy because it's harder to for our brain to resist a tiny step. So here's an example of having a goal and making the first steps tiny or easy. So let's take a weight loss goal. You say, weight loss. Well, the first thing I do is buy diet cookies. Number one, I like cookies. And buying diet cookies, there's not much pain in doing that. I'm gonna have to eat anyway. And uh that'd be a tiny step. Or you say, All right, uh, what I'll do is eat a snack before every meal to kind of kill my appetite. That's kind of a positive thing. I don't feel like I'm starving or withholding something from myself. Or uh this networker says this uh take two of these capsules first thing in the morning and it controls your appetite all day. Taking two capsules is a whole lot easier than saying I'm gonna start weighing my food and doing this exercise and uh go walking. Small, tiny steps. So let's apply it to ourselves. So in the QA, ask yourself what would be an easy, tiny first step that I could take for my goal? Say, all right, so uh maybe my goal is to have 10,000 customers. And you say, All right, so maybe the first step I should do is uh spend 30 minutes trying to come up with a great sound bite that bypasses all their retail questions, or come up with a a good angle where I can be in front of uh a lot of people that would uh probably want this product and is it that's something within my control, something I can do right away, and that's just a tiny, tiny step. So, what is the smallest, tiniest step that you can think of right now that would move you towards your goal? So, in the QA, if you have any suggestions, uh type that in. But ask yourself what is so easy and so small that I shouldn't even resist it and make sure it's something within our comfort zone. So, Keith, any suggestions?
SPEAKER_02Uh someone wants to build a Facebook group, a wealth building Facebook group, or something that they can probably um monitor. Uh, I always to this day start my phone sessions with a call to a friend. Easy start. Then I'm on the rhythm of calling. We're in the rhythm of communicating, talking out loud, instead of talking to ourselves makes a big difference. Uh find where a person sits alone anywhere I go, smile, easy. Uh using real words, complimenting, uh, creating conversations. Absolutely. Uh learning uh tech programs, small bits of time to learn a piece. So maybe could be anything, whatever, um, whatever applications you're using. Um, yeah, definitely learn a little bit more and of course communicate more. Uh, someone says, get out of the house. Absolutely. That's always the hardest part. Uh, once you're out, it's so much easier, uh, as with anything. Um, so yes, keep these coming in.
SPEAKER_01Okay, just some ideas. Let's move on. Uh, a question is can I set negative goals with a penalty? Uh fear of loss is greater than the desire for gain. So, yeah, fear works as a goal. So, uh, think about this way. Uh, if I don't make that phone call once every day this week, I have to buy lunch for my hated worthless sponsor. And because we really don't want to buy lunch for our worthless sponsor, we're kind of motivated to do this. Or if I don't go out and try to talk to people twice this week, I'll have to wear a Liverpool jersey. And everybody knows I'm not a Liverpool fan, I'm a fan of another football club. Negative penalty goals is a way to do it. Is it the best way to do it? No, it's just another way. And for people that say, Well, I think I have everything, I'm not really sure what I want to do this year. Well, maybe set a negative goal. And this could be like, you know, my negative goal is I don't want to work Mondays anymore. Or negative goal is uh I never want to commute uh by the end of next year. I just don't want to commute. So we could have negative goals and they would work. Uh so if you're gonna pick a negative penalty in the QA, do you have an emotional negative penalty that you would hate doing? Uh I did one of these on weight loss, and my negative penalty was I was gonna have to donate uh money to the political party that I was not a member of and didn't like, and that was a pretty strong uh negative penalty and very emotional for me. So that's what uh probably caused me to lose weight, which I immediately gained right after January 1. I obviously didn't think this through. So they can always uh motivate me by saying, Well, you don't want to do this, do you? To get me back on track when I'm not on track. So if you can't think of a negative penalty, just look at stuff that you just absolutely hate to do. But moving on very quickly here, um here's some reminders as we pick these things. Is our brain is not wired for happiness, it's not wired for truth, our brain is wired for survival, and it also believes what is repeated. So you say, okay, so how do how do I make this work for me? Well, take a look at that last sentence and believes what is repeated. And you say, wait, so the brain doesn't believe the truth, it believes what is repeated. Yeah, it's the way it is. So does it work for us or against us? So let's try this. How can I remind myself of my goals? Because the more I remind myself, the more the goals will be forefront, and the more the um the more I'll want to do it. So a couple quick suggestions is a post-it note to the mirror where we brush our teeth or shave in the mornings. Uh we can tell our spouse, and um maybe your spouse is very excellent at remembering everything, and would like to remind you of that. Or you can say I could uh put a sign at my desk or on the dashboard of my car, or put it uh by the golf clubs because I always want to go golfing, something to remind myself of my goals. So in the QA, uh, how do you plan to remind yourself? So, do you have any unique ways of doing it? You say, Well, I'll I'll just set an automatic alarm every day for 9 a.m. So 9 a.m. every day, my my phone rings and it just reminds me, hey, remember your goals again. So that's one of the good things about smartphones and automatic reminders. And you say, All right, that's one way of doing it. But Keith, uh, any other suggestions on ways that we can remind ourselves?
SPEAKER_02Yes, we do have the uh classic write them in your date book twice a day, the way Napoleon Hill suggested. We have uh love making vision boards. Yes, absolutely. Just make sure you have that board out and about. Uh, you'd be surprised how many people stash it away. Silent repeat to self that you've achieved the goal already. So, yeah, act as if or um takes care of your subconscious air. Put the goal on my wallpaper screen. So live intentionally. So wallpaper on your uh desktop, laptop, phone, iPad, whatever. Whatever you view the most of. Uh, for most people, it's their phone. Daily reminders and weekly progress review. So probably put that in your calendar to check out. Uh, write in the calendar, and of course, remember to look at it. So it's like whatever calendar system you're using, put it there. Excellent. Record it and listen to the night before dropping off to sleep. So, yeah, put a reminder in at night, and of course, in the morning works as well. So, good stuff. Keep these coming in.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so let's move a little bit fast here to a few more quick ideas. Uh, tell your goals to somebody who normally criticizes you. It's called peer review. And if somebody is always negative or always thinks you have dumb ideas, here's a chance to listen to them and say, well, maybe their dumb idea or negative criticism can help me refine my goal. Just something to try to make it even better. Now, if all these things fail, let's fall back to what's easy. If all else fails, set a goal of what I don't want this year. So ask yourself, what don't I want this year? For some people, going the negative route, like we mentioned earlier, is better. So I'll give you a couple examples of what you might not want this year. But if you can't think of any other goal, try this. So here's a list. How about broccoli? You might say that's definitely I don't want this. Or I don't want to take a holiday with my mother-in-law and her 32 cats. Or I don't want to work overtime anymore. I'm just tired of overtime. I want to have some time for myself. Or I'm tired of 7 a.m. alarms for work. Well, yeah, I could get pretty old. Or how about this? Long opportunity meetings. Hmm, that's something we can change for the next year. Uh, I don't want to do any more cold calls. I want to have a better way of recruiting, maybe like building a Facebook group that was uh on on wealth building, which was mentioned here. Or I don't want to make desperate follow-up calls. I'm going to get better at talking to people so I don't have to do follow-up. Or begging people to come to a meeting that are instead of begging them, maybe I should work better on motivating them so I don't have to beg them to come. So in the QA, what would be a good what I don't want this year for you? And you say, okay, what would be for me what I don't want? So this is a fallback. This doesn't have to be your goal, but just another way of making sure we have something for January 1 that's going to move us forward. So think about this. What I don't want for maybe not for us, but maybe as we work with our team, if they say, Oh, I just don't know, start asking them. So, what don't you want and make that their goals? That could be their default goal. But uh here's just one one last quick test here. Let's test what we know. If my goal or your goal was to lose 20 pounds of fat in 2026, how could we improve this? Based on what we've learned so far, I could find the emotional reason, uh, that would work. I could uh find the activity I'd yeah, that would work, or maybe take the smallest step, or maybe I could talk to my critics and they would say, Well, 20 pounds of fat, uh that's only a drop of the bucket, you should do a whole lot more, or there's no chance you have no discipline. Maybe that's that'll motivate us how they feel about it. So if you just look at this goal say there's so many things we can do on our goal besides just set it and put it on a sign. All the background, like getting an accountability partner, wouldn't that be a lot of fun? So ask yourself, how can I improve based upon what I learned here and following my values and using the four color personalities? This can make this the year that we actually reach our goals. So, to wrap it up, goals are a direction. Goals are not the momentum. We uh we need actual activities to make this happen. And we're gonna supplement our goals with all the tips we learned today to give us the just a better chance this year.
