SPEAKER_01All right, today in the zone, I have another amazing networker. She's been rocking her business, traveling the world. Been following her Facebook obviously for years. Uh, been on a previous episode, the whole thing. Um, I was either interviewed with her uh uh when she would do YouTube videos. It's really cool. And as with most of us, you know, things come and go, passion shift, and she's back in the industry. Definitely want to pick her brain. Is Sarah Carl Cardwell? Sarah Cardwell, welcome.
SPEAKER_03I guess excited to be here. Thanks for having me back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I should know your last name by now. Tripp that up, but that's all right, don't worry about it.
SPEAKER_03It's a difficult one.
SPEAKER_01No, it's not.
SPEAKER_03I'm being kind.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, it's super excited. I mean, it's been years um since uh we've seen each other on Zoom here, and uh really cool. I know that um yeah, you're back in the industry, and as as and that doesn't mean anything because everybody uh pauses or plateaus their business. Some people never get started. Um, you know, we were just talking before we record, and you know, uh, you know, things change in our life, things are super evolving, uh, especially with technology. Uh my big question is uh what made you decide to, hey, let's uh let's go back in.
SPEAKER_03I think um some of the things we were just talking about before, I think are a massive part of it. I think network marketing and having that set of that safety net of an extra income, um whatever you're doing in life is always important. And that's what brought me to it in the first place. And I think, you know, there's a lot of things changed in COVID, things grew, and I think we've talked before that might be when we last spoke, everything exploded and it kind of went everywhere, and then lots of businesses, especially in the UK, started to decline. Um, and I think I just, you know, it's a bit of a cliche burnt out, but I think there was a little element of that of kind of, you know, just had enough of doing it. I'd fell out of love with probably the products more than anything else that I was doing. And I just I'd never done multiple businesses or different versions, so it just felt like that was the time it was gone. And I went into skincare in counters and in retail and in stores and traveled around and you know, I really enjoyed that and being with people, but there's something about that being able to write your own paycheck, and I think that's something that we often take for granted when we're working in these kind of businesses, and so that ultimately is what's brought me back money, freedom, flexibility, um I'm being passionate about something again and excited and you know, getting stuck into something. So all of those things I think.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, I could I could see it, people can hear it, they're definitely uh excited. And I remember so you know it's been oh wow, probably four years since I interviewed you last time. And you had mentioned that, and of course, I'll put I'll link uh so people can listen to it as well. But you mentioned that you actually found kind of a personal development first, yeah, and that's what got you attracted to the business. And the more I think about this, and we we talk about this in a lot of our classes as well, is that if people have the right mindset, they can learn skills, yeah. But if if they're like, you know, super skilled but they don't have the right mindset, they're not gonna do anything. Which is crazy. Is is that still the case? Are you finding like when they're open-minded, like they'll do anything, like they'll they'll get rid of the the fears or the the stuff. I mean, is that what you're finding, or is it a little bit of both?
SPEAKER_03Or yeah, I think definitely a little bit of both. And I think the business that I've gone into now is very, very different. It's much more in-person. So everything is kind of whilst there are elements that are online or on social media, a lot more of this is about in-person community connection. We, you know, it's the old school of going into people's homes and sitting and chatting with people, and I think that's really hard for people to get their head around. But the minute they open their mind, they're actually learning new skills that I, on a whole other level, think is missing from the world right now, which is conversation and connection and community. And I think so much of the world is going away from that, that actually we've got a really unique offering and an opportunity to, in whatever you're doing, to do a bit of you know, in-person, unique, personalised, you know. I use AI as much as anybody else does, it's huge, everybody's using it. But I think you've got to use it in the right way. And I think being able to challenge people to think outside the box and be open-minded and go and meet with a group of people is the biggest challenge right now. But once they do it, they are starting to find more and more skills that they find they're using in all parts of their life. Conversate, I think conversation and the art of conversation seems to be the thing that's dying in the world. And I think when they're meeting strangers and chatting to people and just chatting about life, like not necessarily about products or services, just chatting, they're growing these skills in what it comes and what it takes to be a presenter or a salesperson or a leader or gaining empathy, like those kind of skills is a little bit different to previously, just looking to be better all the time. I think some of the basics have been missing, and that's kind of what we're working on at the minute.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm glad you mentioned there's a lot right there. The community aspect, because uh even uh before my wife uh ran some hair, she's like, Oh, are we gonna go to that social gathering tomorrow? I'm like, heck yeah, we're going, you know, because like that's what that's how we were designed for community. It doesn't matter if you're in a product company or in a service company, or if it's just a social uh you know, gathering of friends, it's like your communication skills are so uh important. And I was thinking we were talking about communication skills. I told my daughter, I said, you don't really have to be that good, you just can't be horrible because as more as more people getting on the phone, the phones are great, you need phones, but as more people are going technology driven, their communication skills are going down, so you just have to be above you.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. That is such a good point. You don't have to be the best, you just have to be prepared to answer your phone sometimes or have a conversation, and you are gonna outskill the majority of where people are at right now. Like just talk to someone and you might be okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because a lot of people they're probably listening, go, Oh, well, of course, they have but good communication skills. No, you know, you just have to not be horrible. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And we all look at our phone and think, oh, I don't want to answer it today, but you know, we've all done it where we've like waited for it to go off and you know, looked later. But if you can just it for me, it's those basic skills that just starting to pick them up and learning those, they're the things that people are missing. And actually, once they get into conversations, if you're passionate about your product or your service, then actually that'll come through when you're talking about it. But you've you've got to talk about it and you've got to meet people, you've got to always be open to new. I think that scares a lot of people, you know. The unknown, new people, new situations, new products, new services. People, those are the things I think that people aren't as open-minded about as they used to be. And I think those that are open-minded about it or are becoming so are the ones that are gonna be ahead of the game. Those it's it's the same old, like we used to read a book called Who Moved My Cheese. I don't know if you've seen it. And it's like a mouse bricks, they keep hiding it, and it's it's that you've just got to be adaptable, you've got to change, and you've got to do the basics.
SPEAKER_01And when people think, oh no, how can I bring up my business? It's like if you just engage people in conversation, it comes up. It just comes up.
SPEAKER_03It's just part of you know, life, and you know, some of the things we were talking about before about being busier. I naturally said to you when you were talking about my daughter and going to uni and what they were all doing, naturally talked about the fact that it's more expensive and you know, these things are gonna cost money, and how are we gonna pay for it? That's one of the reasons and the biggest drivers that will always be for my business, is that I don't want to be worried every single month about things. And actually, I love a business where I can write my own paycheck, and that naturally came up without you having to say what do you do for a living, or what it just naturally came into conversation that we're talking about money. It might be that you're talking about skincare or customer services. It just naturally, if you are interested in connecting with people and having conversations, your business will soon come up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's just um especially here in the US, it's ridiculous. Like for guys in the US, it's it's a natural. Yeah, what do you do for like that's just how it is?
SPEAKER_03It's just gonna come up in conversation. I think the the key is you being confident in what you're doing and you being passionate about it. And I think if you're not passionate about it, that's the problem. Like, I I felt disingenuous in my previous business, and I got to a point where I just didn't feel like I was believing what I said, and that's when I took the step back. And you know, looking back at that time now, um just under a year after I left, that whole business collapsed in the US and in the UK. And that was one of those things where I thought, do you know what? I knew I had something in me that just knew it wasn't feeling quite right. And I think maybe that's why it took me a little bit longer to go back into it. But when you find that thing, it you just find it and you know that you're gonna be passionate about it again, and then that sells itself.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, always always trust your instinct. Yeah. Um, or always trust your wife's instinct if you're a guy.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_03Yes, and that's what I tell my husband as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it's interesting that like if you have a feeling if you want to do business with somebody, and if they're just going out and going for their agenda and pushing something, like you know, like your your mind goes, I really don't want to do this, even if I do buy this, I'm you know, like, but if you're just a nice person, you'll just you'll attract business. So I just want to be in business. Like, I this person really is a nice person. Like, what what do they have to offer? I I need to check this out. I mean, it's so silky.
SPEAKER_03Exactly, and exactly who you are is what you attract. And I think I it's a bit cheesy again, but your vibe attracts your tribe, the people, the way you are, and I think we're all very different, and that's why even when I'm talking to some of my team, I'll say they'll say, I'm not like you, and I say, Well, that's great, because I'm not like you, and you know, someone would want to be part of your business or your client or your team member that wouldn't want to work with me because I'm me and you're you, and we've got those unique qualities, and I think that's something else that people get caught up in. They compare themselves so often, if they actually just spent the time thinking, Well, I joined this for X, Y, and Z and I love the products for X, Y, and Z, then actually I'm gonna be really successful because I'm just gonna be on honest and authentic and genuine, and the right people will come to me for clients and team members because they'll see what I'm about and they'll be the same. And I think that's really important as well.
SPEAKER_01Uh, good point. Yeah, because a lot of times we think, okay, build the business, you gotta be in this bubble, and this is how you have to act. This is the right words you have to say. Yeah, you can't deviate, you have to say it with confidence, you gotta posture. Like, if you just be yourself, what you're saying. It's like that's what's gonna happen. That's gonna build your business.
SPEAKER_03We've joked today, so tomorrow, our advent calendars launch, which always is a crazy time when they launch in the middle of summer for a Christmas thing, no one's thinking about it. And I was chatting to some of the team, and they were like, I'm just not ready to talk about Christmas. And I said, start with that. Like, just say to your clients or your customers, I am not even thinking about Christmas yet, but I wanted to tell you about this because it's happening. And one of them came back to me and she said, I literally said I couldn't think of anything worse. And I sold three. And I was like, Because you were honest, you're not in that place, but you've just you're authentic, you aren't trying to hide something, you haven't come out going, I'm ready for Christmas, because your clients will think that's not you. You've got to be genuine and just stick with your gut, and your clients will come through because they they they resonate with what you're saying. So tell everyone you hate it and they'll buy it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like today, uh, as we're recording, it's July 31st, and everyone's saying, Oh, here comes October, between August and October, because like all the Halloween stuff's already out.
SPEAKER_03It's already out, isn't it? Someone was saying the um I don't know which brand it is, Starbucks, the latte, the pumpkin one is coming out in like two weeks, and I'm like, that's not till October, but it is, it's just what happens now, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and especially with Christmas. Like everybody knows one person that's almost too obsessed with Christmas, and you know, they're totally all about it. More power to them. I'm a little bit more obsessed with Halloween, but you know, I love Christmas. I love all the holidays, I love anything that brings people together.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and that's this that's it exactly. It's just been, yeah, anything that makes you happy and always being, you know, enjoy yourself. That's the biggest thing, isn't it? So have some fun with it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, cool. Well, you you've also been uh having fun, and because you're having fun, because you're being yourself, because you're putting yourself out there, because you're communicating with people, which is how we're designed for. You did like a travel incentive, I saw uh was it Vietnam?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so um the travel incentives here are something I've never experienced. Very small amount of people, so generally only about 20 people get to go on the trips out of the whole company. So last year we went off to Vietnam, and then in May this year they took us to Mauritius. So they we've had two incredible trips, and Mauritius was amazing, but Vietnam was something else, it's just not somewhere that would have probably been somewhere that I'd have gone on a family vacation. My husband's not a big fan of traveling. Um, so I love that I get to do that element with work. Um, and it was just incredible, just every aspect of it, the food, the culture, it was amazing.
SPEAKER_01But you started brand new with a new company. I mean, obviously, you know, some people just follow you, like I'll go wherever you want. And like, how did you relaunch your business and kick that much tail?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, there was a there was a little bit of that. There was a few people that sort of said, I don't know quite how you've done this. Like, but I think again, it's just back to being really honest, it's about being loving the product. So for me, it was very different. I'm in a different stage in my life. I've talked previously about mental health and well-being, and this is a brand that um sort of encompasses that. So that kind of drew me a little bit in as well. And I think it's I've really lent into the well-being element. Um, one of the things that we do great is um we go into workplaces, so we've got a almost like a golden ticket to go into workplace and do free wellness sessions. So we go in and do breathing techniques and relaxation and that kind of thing. So a lot of businesses are really open to that free 45-minute session, which then increases our network and we can speak to more people, we get more people talking to us and knowing about what we do. So I think I really lent into the well-being aspect of the business. And I was also really keen to just get out there and go to places. Some people might not be as keen to do, you know, free sessions for things, whereas I was like, it's it's not free, it's gonna build my business. You know, I'm a big believer that you have to spend money or time, sometimes both, to build a business. And actually, at that point, I've got time. I didn't have necessarily loads of money, but I had the time and I'm passionate about something. So I just went all in and contacted lots of businesses, got local papers sharing about them again, um, use social media and stuff, even had a little play on TikTok. I'm not sure that's the platform for me yet, but I'm giving it a dabble. Um, and you know, just trying new things, getting out there and making sure that um everyone knew that I'd re everybody knew that I'd relaunched a business. And if they wanted to come along, then they could.
SPEAKER_01That's cool. And and every business in a traditional sense has money or most most yeah, time, but most importantly, money, because like think about all the advertising traditional businesses have to do, or samples or anything like that. And yes, if you're in a product business, of course, samples is one way if you're doing it right, but yeah, everybody has free time. If not, look at your phone. I guarantee if you look at your whatever it is, uh how much time you spend on a certain app, you have time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's it's not encouraged to do that when you realize you get you want to bet with yourself that you spend 20 minutes on something because you look at it, it's like four hours a day of just scrolling TikTok, and you think, I have got time to have a side hustle and I have got time to make money. And I think it's about doing things you're enjoying then. I think I think the other thing I've done differently this time is I've been really open with not necessarily what I'm earning, but what I'm doing with what I'm earning. So I'm taking the kids out this weekend, or we're going shopping, or we're having a weekend away, or and I think that really shows people in a tangible way. We're all, I think right now, financially across the world, we're seeing a bit of a difficulty with economy and people struggling financially and diff everything that's happening, and actually having something that brings you an income that's quite empowering and you know, gets some personal development, and often is fun as well. Like it's kind of ticking all the boxes, and I think we're gonna see a bit of an upturn in people returning to side hustles and things that maybe had declined from that sort of period during and after COVID.
SPEAKER_01Oh, absolutely. Okay, and a lot of times it doesn't matter what people make, most people spend somewhere between 99 and 100 110% of their money. Yeah, that's just how it is.
SPEAKER_03That's just life. You just spend up to what you've got and probably a little bit more. And actually, that's anything that helps you, you know, s add a little bit to that pot is gonna make a difference, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but you mentioned that you're not yeah, money's money, money's great. We want keep paying us. Um, but at the same time, like you know that you're using that for, I guess, experiences or memories, or so uh like is is that where you because so many people like oh you know, oh, I need an extra five hundred dollars in my budget. Uh that's boring logical sense, whoop-de-doo. But hey, if I make an extra 500, I get to do XYZ. Yeah, like that's exciting. I think people forget about that. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_03I think that's it. And I think so many people go, I need to earn extra 500 pounds or dollars a month, and they do that and get nothing out the other end because it just goes on, you know, life and this and that, and it's just added in. Whereas when you put it on one side and say, actually, a weekend away or a family day out is gonna cost 150, or actually, after six months, we'd have 3000 or whatever to go on a trip, or you put it into something, it starts being tangible, and you know, it's back to vision boards and having that goal and seeing something tangible. And I am a big believer in experience over like material stuff, don't get me wrong. I love a handbag, I love a watch, I love a bit of something nice, but any day I would much rather do something that makes those memories, and I think um experiences often do that. So for me, it's all about making sure I can see where that money is going, um, and it creating something, so definitely.
SPEAKER_01Is that due to age?
SPEAKER_03I think so.
SPEAKER_01I have I have 10 years on you at least.
SPEAKER_03No, but I think it definitely is to do with age. There's so many things now I find myself saying, even to the girls, and they'll go like roll their eyes at me. And I think, yeah, my mum used to say that as well.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think like in decades, like you you're so you know, you watch uh commercials, however it is, you know, uh back in our TV and and now it's you know online and you know, scrolling through commercials, and okay, a kid's stuff, and then it goes to experiences, then it's like okay, experiences with the family. I think people like if you've been involved for a long time, you have these goals, and you're like, wait a second, these goals they're they don't excite me anymore. Yeah. Or yeah. Uh so yeah, I had to mention the aging because the same thing.
SPEAKER_03It's like, you know, we're yeah, I just think life changes. Yeah, definitely. It's it changes and things become more important. And also, you when you're this age, your time feels like forever. But the older you get, however much you don't want to think about, the time you've got left is shorter, and you start thinking, what do I want from this? Like, what do I want to spend my time doing? And that's why I also think you've got to do something, whether it's your job or your business or you whatever you want to do that you enjoy, because you know, you don't I don't want to live for weekends or live for the holiday that you get once a year. I want to be doing stuff every day that I really, really enjoy. So I think that comes with age as well.
SPEAKER_01But uh but at the same the good side of that is I think we're deciding like, okay, we're gonna enjoy every single minute and be present more. Um you know, decades ago, like scrolling on your phone while you're doing other things, you're not present. So No, exactly. Be present.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, be present. Especially with people.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. And have conversations and would sort society out with those two things.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, imagine. Yeah. Imagine if people weren't behind their keyboards arguing, they were just in person. They'd be like, oh, totally fine. We're all the same.
unknownDefinitely.
SPEAKER_01Uh in anything. Well, okay, so in person. That's awesome. I I love that. And it doesn't have to be um uh a specific uh uh training or anything like that, it's just the around people, um, which is oh which is cool. But at the same time, you know, as you mentioned AI, you mentioned technology. We all do something with technology. We're using technology right now. I yeah, absolutely. Cannot fly to England and fly back uh because I have stuff to do. I have the I have the social gathering tomorrow.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, exactly. But I get to start social thing.
SPEAKER_01So what what kind of technology are you embracing? Um, what's still with the personal touch?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think um I'm definitely starting to look at things like um I mean, I am old as we've discussed already, but chat GPT and I'm not taking offense to it or anything. So chat GPT, I probably only heard about it about six months ago. Um, and there's so many more versions of that now, but that one is the one that most people know. And I think how I've tried to use things like that as opposed to, you know, what do I need to say, and then copying a post and sticking it out there, I've tried to use it to say, I want to create more in-person bookings. What would you suggest? And using it for the ideas, um, for the structure, for the that kind of thing, rather than the post itself, or rather than the whatever. So, you know, I'll ask ChatGPT or or Google, because I think lots of them are coming along with their own versions of this now, sort of, you know, I've got a goal for my business and I want to do £2,000 in sales in the next two weeks. So I'll literally type into it, I would like to do £2,000 in sales in six days. Um, I work for this company, these are the offer, very brief stuff. It started to pick up who I am and it will come up with suggestions and it knows now what I work for, what kind of offers are on. And it's great. Some of it is obvious, but sometimes it'll just throw up a couple of ideas that I think, my gosh, why haven't I created my own gift with purchase or limited edition offer or you know, done a video message instead of a voice note, or you know, picked up the phone. Like some of it is just really simple, but sometimes it's just having that other voice to bounce around, and it can be lonely in network marketing and direct sales. So having this rather clever robot to bounce ideas around can sometimes help. So I've definitely embraced that side of things a little bit more.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's cool. And and uh everybody asks about AI, Chat GBT, Gemini, Gronk, all the all the ones is the more you feed it, the better. It's like a recipe. It's like, what do I make for dinner? And they're like, What? You know, it's like I don't know what you like. Yeah, exactly. Here's what's in my pantry, here's what I like, what can I make for dinner? Same thing in your business. Like you you mentioned, like it starts to know you, like they know that you're not going to do a 75-point PowerPoint, like it's not gonna happen. Um, nor will anybody pay attention either. But it knows that okay, you like to be out in person, like to be um, you know, uh uh interactive aspect or whatever, and then it's pretty cool. Like the more you feed anything, even if it's just a simple Google search, do it. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think it's I think it's um and I think the longer we all try and think we want to avoid it, because lots of my team and lots of people that I speak to are trying to avoid it, and I think ultimately I don't think you can, I think it's coming some way in another. You've got Alexa's in your house, you've got stuff on your phone, this thing's scanning you every time you open a door or a route. Like there's so much happening. So I think you don't have to use every part of everything, but I think you have got to start being aware of it for any sort of business because you know your competitors will be using it, um, and it will give you that little bit of an edge if you use it in the right way, and just make sure you yeah, you like you said, feeding it, and then you'll start to get the the better ideas, definitely.
SPEAKER_01That's exciting, yeah. I'm glad uh people are embracing it or people learning how to embrace it. That's the I think that's the hardest part. Um absolutely. Um well uh you have the obviously the right mindset. Is there something that you recommend to people? Is it like uh um, you know, do you engage people like via Facebook group, or do you kind of get like weekly sort of trainings, or how are you getting like people to get that mindset? Because obviously you have the mindset attract the business. Some people already have the mindset, some people you know, we all need a tune-up of our mindset, or is it just or is it just those gatherings that's really getting people engaged?
SPEAKER_03I think it's a combination, as always. Still, lots of my team are based around the UK, so I can't always be there in person. I think whenever I can, I'm really strategic with it. So I was down in London last weekend and managed to meet up with a couple of people. Um, I'm doing Scotland this weekend, so I've got a few different bits. Um, so I try and be strategic in that in person. I think when I know that it's working, trying to do as much of that as possible, they mirror that and they appreciate it. I think what they appreciate is seeing me in person and us having that connection to go, oh, I get it, I get that this is a little bit different to being on a Zoom. But ultimately, we've got to use Zoom, we've got to use Teams calls, we've got to use FaceTime. So I think it's about making sure, keeping things different. So for a long time I was doing team meetings over Zoom with um PowerPoints, and you know, not loads of slides, but still to a point that I was basically just reading off what was on a slide. And I've soon realized that, you know, lots of people do learn from those. I can send them those. You can look at them, you can yeah, that's easy. What actually they want to do is often they want to hear from their peers. So something that I changed recently was going back to stuff that I did before. So we'd have we have like a bit more of a team gathering every couple of weeks where we all jump on a Zoom, whoever's free. You know, it's not you have to come at this time, but it's everyone jumps. So on, and I've already spoke to two or three of them beforehand and said, could you share that thing that you did last week, or could you share that? And I think getting them to share with each other that really helps. I think people listen more to their peers than someone who they feel is telling them to do something with a different, maybe a different agenda, even though it might not be the case, you know, sometimes it can feel like someone's going, you do this, I'm not gonna do it, but you do this. And I try and avoid that all costs. But when their teammates are saying, actually, I did this thing last week and it was so good. And the best bit is it's usually really simple, it's not overcomplicated. And then the rest of the team, and then I think it's that ripple effect, they then go away and then they go back to the chat group, if you like, and say, Oh my gosh, that's meeting today's really got me going. I'm really inspired. And then next time there's a couple more people on it because they've got a bit of FOMO and they want to find out what's going off. So I think team momentum builds team momentum, and it's hard to get it going, but when it's going, it's going the right way. It also goes the other way, so it's very easy for it to slip down. So I think you've just got to keep keep it fresh, keep trying to try different things and definitely engage with a few of your key members to sort of get them chatting and sharing stuff beforehand. And I luckily I speak to a lot of my team quite a bit, so I know who's maybe done something that's worked well or that they can share and stuff, so that it works really well.
SPEAKER_01Well, that that's key. Yeah, hear from somebody else because they're in the same shoes or they just got started, or uh, oh, it's easy for Sarah to do it, you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's and it is we all think it, I think it sometimes about other people and that, oh yeah, it's easy for you, you've been in this business, and you do, you just find yourself in that position. Whereas when someone new in the team says something, my ears prick up and I'm like, Oh, that's different. I like that. And you know, we all know that in business, particularly in our business, you need new all the time because they question things, they don't let things get stale. They go, Why are you doing that? and you're like, Because we we just do that, and they're like, Why? And then you start to think, and it it helps because it stops you doing things that we do a thing called stop, start, continue. I love that. That is literally getting rid of stuff that is pointless. Get rid of it.
SPEAKER_01One key thing that you that you mentioned, I just realized that you said simple, like yeah. I'm always overwhelmed, being underwhelmed. Like it's almost like overwhelmed, like, okay, the the the business, anything in the in life is simple, just do simple things consistently.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, all the time. That's all you need to do. And I think people do do that where they just I but I think you've added the right way, it's the consistency though, and I think that's where so many people I tried that thing you said and it didn't work, and you're like, once that's not really gonna cut it, like try it again or try it a little bit differently, or try it again on a consistent basis, and it's the consistency that will keep it going and get you that success in the end. Yeah, definitely.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know it's it's crazy. I'm always uh overwhelmed and underwhelmed by what people do because it's just so easy. Uh well, it's easy, but yeah, I I get it. What you do something five times, it doesn't work, like okay, well, you need to do it 20 times. What's the guarantee? Well, believe it.
SPEAKER_03There isn't, believe you me, we'd love there to be, but there isn't. It's hot, it's hard work. And I think that's the other thing that people forget is that it doesn't have to be hard work. I mean, we're flexible, we get to choose what we do and when, but you have got to work. It isn't uh it's somebody once said, I think it was Roz, who you'll know, Roz Rag. It it was not open, it's not optional, but it's flexible. And I think that's so important. Like you have got to work to grow your business, but you get to do it in so many different ways, you get to do it when it works for you, you get to do it as and when helps. But you know, anyone that just thinks they can just go into a business and be successful overnight without trying anything, then they're not gonna get anywhere. But I think sadly, that's where lots of people go wrong and think it can be. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. But you mentioned the thing like if you're yourself and you're enjoying what you're doing, you have to figure out how to enjoy it. I get that. Yeah, because everyone's gonna be different. Um, then nothing's stopping you. Like it's it's crazy. Once they realize, like, oh, if I say this and I uh, you know, what it is, give people option or let people know about it, or however you want to phrase it, then it's okay. This is I could do this throughout my day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, can do this all the time.
SPEAKER_01And we look forward to it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it is it is crazy, and you know, some of the some of the people that have gone from social media more to in person will say to me, So I'll do loads of stuff on social media for this, and it it gets me this many sales. And then I went and did this hour and a half, and that got me like three times more sales, and I'm like, Yeah, but they will feed into your social media now and build your network. But you're right, it's this different thing that you tried, and it's working, and it's simple and it's quicker. You just you've just got to keep going with different stuff, I think, and keep things simple.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. That's so cool. Wow, I I appreciate uh all the tips. I'll definitely have you back on because I we kind of touched the notes, but I was like, Oh, yeah, I gotta uh keep it a time, and of course, you know, respect your time as well. This is so cool, and yeah, we'll definitely hang it a little bit because we both have teenagers, we gotta figure this stuff out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we've got to. I will definitely pick your brains on that. Oh, thank you so much.
SPEAKER_01Oh, don't worry, I can't let you go yet. I got the lightning round.
SPEAKER_03No, that's all right.
SPEAKER_01All right, Sarah, you ready? Yeah, I know you mentioned uh Who Moved My Cheese? Obviously, a classic book. And that book, or what's one book that you think everyone should read or listen to? It doesn't have to be a network parking book, just any book that's like this is cool.
SPEAKER_03Um, I still am a big believer and lover of the colour personalities. I can't remember the exact one that um you guys did, but it is for me, colour personalities makes such a big difference when you're working with people. No, I think it helps yourself, but I think in all aspects of life, I'm currently trying to work out what colour my teenagers are, and then I might have a better handle on dealing with those. But I think learning to communicate and work with people is the biggest skill you can learn. And I think the colour personality is really, really help with that. And there's a variety of books, I know there's not just your guys, but all the different books around that and looking at what someone is and how they respond to certain things, what tasks they do. So I think that's a really key one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I find when people, especially me, when I learned, you know, started doing the colour personalities, like I use it more for personal life, and then business just becomes automatic. I don't know if that sounds weird.
SPEAKER_03You start to just notice straight away like they're they're yellow, like yeah, they're gonna promise me everything.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, teenagers, yeah, they're definitely a certain prime, but yeah, they're multiple. I get it.
SPEAKER_03I think they for all of them, yeah, definitely.
SPEAKER_01They're like whatever works to get my way. Definitely. All right, uh, question number two. Um I know you said Mauritius, uh Vietnam. What? Or is there another place that like your favorite place to travel or favorite place you'd like to travel to sometime in the near future?
SPEAKER_03I think um we've been twice, once without the kids, once with, which was Florida, and it just holds so many nice memories, and I think we'd love to go back there at some point. The kids love um roller coasters and more sort of universal that side of things. They're big Marvel fans. So I think not necessarily Florida, but maybe one of the other parks to maybe like California or something like that. I think we'd definitely love to go to one of the um the other parks and go there. One for me, I don't know why, but I'd love to go to Japan. There's just something about that place and what they do there, and seeing videos and stuff. I think Vietnam gave me a bit of a flavor of what life is like on the I've only ever really gone west. So that first hint at going east has given me a bit of a taste for that. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, interesting. Yeah, that's uh yeah, Japan is definitely very unique compared to uh the majority of surrounding countries, uh, which is cool. They've uh well, excellent. Yeah, that's uh starts watching some YouTube videos. Well, you know, who knows? The phones are already listening to us, so it's already gonna be on.
SPEAKER_03They're already on it, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Hey, question number three uh what's for dinner?
SPEAKER_03Um tonight we're having chicken stir fry. We are yes, I went and got it yesterday and we didn't cook it yesterday, so we're having it tonight. Life got in the way yesterday, but tonight it will be chicken stir fry.
SPEAKER_01All right, cool deal. Uh noodles or rice? Noodles. Or bottom bottom, I should say. Okay, cool. Excellent, excellent. Well, again, Sarah, thank you so much uh for your time. No, definitely uh link to your original one, which you had uh original podcast episode. We had great tips and the the awesome tips here as well. We thank you so much.
